Why Frosted Film
Frosted window film gives you the elegant look of expensive etched or sandblasted glass for a fraction of the cost. Applied neatly to the existing glass, it lets natural daylight flow through while blocking the view in — so you get privacy without darkening the room. It is the perfect solution for bathrooms, ensuites, front-door sidelights, ground-floor windows and interior glass panels, and it can be supplied plain, patterned, or custom-cut with designs, borders or company logos.

Frosted window film is a thin, micro-textured polymer layer applied directly to the surface of your existing glass. Daylight passes through the fine etched texture and scatters, so the pane glows softly while the view straight through is broken up — that mix of brightness and concealment is exactly why privacy window film works where a blind would feel heavy or kill the light. Unlike a cheap printed sticker, a quality frosted glass film reads as genuine sandblasted or acid-etched glass from both sides and stays put through years of temperature swings.
Made-to-measure is where it earns its keep. Every pane in a Calgary home is slightly different, and sidelights, transoms and shaped bathroom windows rarely match a standard off-the-shelf roll. We measure each opening, cut the film to the exact glass size — or plot custom patterns and borders — then apply it wet with a squeegee so there are no trapped bubbles, lifted edges or crooked seams. A DIY roll almost always leaves a visible margin or air pockets; a professional fit disappears into the frame.
It suits a lot of Alberta situations: ground-floor and walk-out basement windows in close-set communities like Mahogany, Auburn Bay and Cranston; front-door sidelights on bungalows; ensuite and shower glass. Because our service is fully mobile, we bring real samples to you and fit the film in place — no showroom trip required, with a quote inside 48 hours.

Film Finishes, Frost Levels & Opacity
Frosted window film is, by design, a light-filtering product: it delivers daytime privacy while keeping the room bright, so it never darkens a space the way a blackout fabric would. If you also need true room-darkening — a nursery or media room — we pair the film with a separate blackout roller blind rather than over-promising on the film itself.
Within that light-filtering family there is real choice. Frost density runs from a light dusted haze to a dense, fully opaque etch. Finishes include plain frost, sandblasted and acid-etched looks, graduated clear-to-frost bands that leave a view strip up top, striped and patterned designs, and custom-cut borders. For sun-heavy exposures we can also specify tinted or solar-control films that cut glare and block most UV alongside the privacy.
Colour is mostly neutral — soft white and silvered frosts that suit any décor — with subtle tints available on request. During your free in-home visit we hold real samples against your own glass and Calgary light, so you see the exact opacity and finish before you decide.
Pricing
What Affects the Price
Frosted window film is usually priced by the glass area we cover, so the biggest factor is simply how many panes and how many square feet you are treating — a single bathroom window costs far less than a whole wall of glass. Plain frost is the most economical; custom-cut patterns, graduated designs, borders and printed logos add plotting and design time. Film grade matters too: standard privacy film sits below tinted or solar-control film, and very tall or hard-to-reach glass can add labour. Stripping old, bubbled film before reapplying is a separate line.
Because every window and design is different, we never quote a flat price sight-unseen — treat any figure as a typical estimate only. A Sunleo consultant measures your glass at home, confirms the finish, and sends a clear, no-obligation quote — free, and within 48 hours.

Care & Cleaning
Cleaning & Durability
Leave new film alone for about three to four weeks while the adhesive fully cures — light hazing or tiny moisture specks during this window are normal and clear on their own. After that, clean it like glass but gently: a soft microfibre cloth with mild soapy water or a vinegar-free glass cleaner, never an abrasive pad, scraper or ammonia, which can scratch or cloud the surface. In Calgary's hard water, finish bathroom and shower film with a wipe of distilled water to stop mineral spotting. Interior frosted film is durable and UV-stable for many years, and when you want a change it peels away cleanly without damaging the glass underneath.
Good to Know
Frosted Film — your questions, answered
Does frosted film make the room dark?
No — it blocks the view while still letting natural daylight through, so the room stays bright but private.
Where is frosted film best used?
Bathrooms and ensuites, front-door sidelights, ground-floor windows and glass office partitions are the most popular spots.
Can you add a logo or pattern?
Yes — we can supply plain frost, decorative patterns, or custom-cut designs, borders and company logos for offices.
Is it permanent?
The film is durable and long-lasting but can be removed cleanly if you ever want to change it.
Does privacy window film still work at night?
Privacy window film gives reliable concealment in daylight. After dark, once your interior lights are on and it is darker outside, anyone close to the glass can see more — just as with most frosted glass. For round-the-clock privacy on a bedroom or bathroom, we suggest pairing the film with a blackout roller blind you can lower in the evening.
Can frosted glass film go on shower and bathroom glass?
Yes — frosted glass film is a popular choice for ensuite windows and shower enclosures, turning clear glass into a private, etched-look panel without a permanent renovation. We fit it to the dry inside face of the glass. In Calgary's hard water, wiping the glass down after showers keeps mineral spots from building up on the film's surface.
Can the film include a clear view strip or a decorative band?
Yes. We can plot a graduated clear-to-frost band that leaves a view strip at the top, a privacy band at seated eye height, or a decorative border cut to your exact glass. Each panel is templated and fitted on site so the design lines up cleanly.
How long does frosted window film last, and will Alberta sun fade it?
Interior frosted window film typically lasts many years. Quality films are UV-stable, so Alberta's strong prairie sun and low winter light won't fade the frost the way it might a cheap sticker. Edges stay sealed when professionally applied, and if a pane is ever damaged we can re-film just that one without redoing the whole room.
